Virtual V/s Real : Which to Believe
This is a very interesting thought i had . I have experienced it couple of times about how different a person is online in different capacities & when compared to offline. He or she may be a real talkathon online and goes off totally offline and vice versa. There will be many vice versa examples . I was thinking about why this is so & this is the best i could come up with.
By the way , i do fall in this category of people as i have been told more than often , you got to meet the real me to know me really :-)
Internet is safe. You can express more openely compared to real life. You can be what you want to be as you have the freedom of choice of expression. You can have one type of personality in one forum a totally different one on another which is dependent of the forum type. I would be the most helpful on one and be totally cool while a total flaming smartass on another. And then we come to real life which may or may not be different from atleast one type. So why do we have different demeanours in the virtual world &/or the 2 worlds and not be the same in both.
People have different qualities when it comes to writing and speaking. You can quote shakespere offline while you may be the quite one online. So that moulds your personality that you take while interacting with people. Also the fact you may get away with saying stuff online while you would never do that offline. So does that mean im mostly faking stuff or just displaying a part of my personality which i would not in the real world. So on a forum , im talking in general when there are 10 people around so i talk accordingly.
And then Online Chat. Youy are interacting one on one with the person , but still you remain online and do act like your real self or a hybrid depending on the other person and kind of interaction you are having .
And then you meet the person in the real world and wooooah ... your perception about the person/s was kinda wrong and they are to say ... different.
So it is rediculous to judge or percieve how a person is online. The only real thing remains an offline meet when the whole physical meeting and the chemistry building starts and over time of interactions you get to have a fair idea about how a person is & how different or same they are from your perception.
So how people fall in love online and how successful is the relationship when they meet offline is a statistic which would really help in understanding this strange concept much better.
So what has been your experience in general with a person in the virtual world & then when you met the person in the real world ?
