I Met GOD And Saw Him In Action
I met up with Joe Satriani on Thursday :-) ... what do i say more. At Planet M , Powai , there was the biggest crowd that can fit in a Planet M full . Thanks to ma Guitar Sir , i got to meet him for probably 30 seconds cause Satch was intrested in meeting Mumbai Rockers and guitarists especially . It was just briefly but it felt Heavenly . He just asked about the band and some other stuff . Then he gave us Free passes :-) of 500 Rs for todays Show . Sadly , we were not allowed to carry ANYTHING inside due to heavy security , we all were told to keep our guitars , cameras outside ( one guy had got 3 guitars for autograph , he broke down when he heard nothing allowed inside ... and when Satch came to know that , he gave him an autographed CD :-) and a Tee signed by the ENTIRE band ( Lucky SOB )
Today show can be summed up as AWESOME . Mumbai rose up to the occation. I saw band members from Gary Lawyer , Parikrama , Zero , PDV , even Indus Creed etc ... it was like a Rockers Meet . No intro bands , J S just came and started playing and NEVER took a break . Played like 3 hours . Played around 25 songs and it was mindblowing. I never thought such a day would ever come , and here we are ... Part of History . Again due to the F***ing security , no cameras allowed :( ... only managed pics from cam phones.
He was flawless , a Real God on his awesome array of guitars ( must have atleast 10 of them )... and most of the real knowledgable crowd had come . Got the Whirpool going on some of his songs , people tripping , getting High on all kinds of stuff ;-) ... it was like Woodstock 69 ... hendrix playing with the Hippies doing their stuff . And when he said Thanks for Coming and Good Night , mumbai wasnt ready to let him go that easily . The barrier seperating the 500 , 1000 bucks section was broken , ripped and crowd became one . People chanted ... Once more ... More , More ... and he didnt dissapoint , got his guitar ... told his band " Lets get Crazy " with 3 more songs Going Down , Friends and Bamboo ( Extended versions than the ones on his Albums ) ...
To sum it up , it was one awesome gig and Prolly One of the best till now ...
In terms of international artists Ive seen
Bon Jovi ( when i was 12 )
Def Leppard ( the infamous lip synching gig)
Deep Purple ( One great gig that was )
Junoon ( Talented Guys )
Joe Satriani
PS : Yesterday , J S said ...Seeing the Crowd , i wouldnt mind doing a G3 down here ;-)
